Launch WordPress in Minutes: One-Click Installs and Free SSL

Part five of our cPanel series. This is the article where reading turns into a live website. Every KDJHosting plan includes the Softaculous one-click installer and a free SSL certificate (https://kdjhosting.com/hosting), so a secure WordPress site is about fifteen minutes away. Work through the steps in order.

First, install WordPress. In cPanel, open Software, then the WordPress installer. Choose the domain to install on — leave the directory box empty if WordPress should fill the whole site — then pick your site name and tagline. You can change both later, so do not stall here. Create an admin username that is not "admin" and a strong password you store safely. Enter an email address you actually read, because WordPress sends password resets and update notices there. Click Install, wait a few minutes, and note the login link. That is the whole job; there is nothing to download and nothing to upload.

Second, switch on SSL. Open Security, then SSL/TLS Status, and run AutoSSL for your domain. Every KDJHosting plan includes a free Let's Encrypt certificate, and AutoSSL renews it for you. After it finishes, open your site with https in front. If the padlock shows, visitors now get an encrypted connection, Google ranks you slightly better, and browsers stop warning people away. If your site still loads over plain http, ask our support team and we will point the addresses the right way.

Third, do the five-minute first setup inside your new WordPress dashboard. Delete the sample post, sample page, and sample comment so your site never looks unfinished. Under Settings, set your timezone to Colombo so scheduled posts publish when you expect. Pick a simple, well-known theme before you fall for a flashy one — speed and updates matter more than decoration. Install only the plugins you need: a contact form, a backup plugin, and a security plugin cover most small sites. Each extra plugin is a door you must keep locked with updates.

Fourth, make your first backup before you customise anything. A fresh install backs up in seconds and gives you a clean starting point to return to. We keep automatic daily backups on our side for every plan, and cPanel also lets you download your own copies — the final article in this series shows you exactly how.

Common mistakes to skip: installing WordPress in a subfolder by accident (clear the directory box unless you want yoursite.lk/blog), forgetting where you saved the admin password, and launching with the padlock missing. All three are quick to fix, and our team answers in Sinhala, Tamil, or English around the clock if you get stuck.

Next and last in the series: everyday cPanel use cases — the backups, security checks, and small maintenance jobs that keep a business site healthy for years.
